The Starving Rooster

Located just a short distance from The Wyatt at Northern Lights community, The Starving Rooster is Minot’s trendiest pizzeria. The menu is centered around signature woodfired pizzas like “The Pioneer” layered with pepperoni, “The Ground Hog” topped with rotisserie chicken, and “The Hawaiian” made with Canadian bacon and pineapple. They also serve yummy soups, salads, and appetizers. Another very special feature of The Starving Rooster is the historic building itself, which was built in 1919 for a local tractor company. Many of the original materials have been repurposed for the design of the restaurant, including the handcrafted wooden tables. The Starving Rooster is a true culinary gem.

Kainan Filipino Restaurant

Located just south of Oak Park, Kainan Filipino Restaurant (as of its opening in 2025) is the only Filipino sit-down eatery in the entire state! Owners Max and Jen Maximo, originally from the Philippines decided to open their very own restaurant after a particularly intense spell of missing home. The menu features classic Filipino dishes like chicken or pork adobo (braised), sisig (a chopped meat dish), and a beef soup called nilagang baka. Although the names may be unfamiliar, the flavors are exceptional. Patrons can experience true culinary authenticity at Kainan Filipino Restaurant.

Ebeneezer's Eatery & Irish Pub

Is it the luck of the Irish or just exceptional food and service? Whatever the reason, the locally owned Ebeneezer’s Eatery & Irish Pub has been in business for over 20 years, serving Minot with classic dishes like shepherd’s pie, meatloaf, bangers & mash, and the city’s best fish & chips. True to the spirit of the Irish pub, Ebeneezer’s features live music and is open until 1:00am every night of the week. Located just seven minutes south of the community, getting a taste of Ireland’s distinct culture is easy for residents of The Wyatt at Northern Lights.

Bone's BBQ Minot

Barbeque, along with famous exports like blues, jazz, and baseball, is one of America’s greatest cultural achievements. This means you’re bound to find a go-to barbeque joint in almost every US city. In Minot, that’s Bones BBQ, a Texas-inspired smokehouse that is locally owned and operated by entrepreneur Jerome Lundeen. The menu features mouthwatering brisket, pulled pork wraps, and rib plates with handmade sides like mac & cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Make sure to leave room for dessert! Bones BBQ serves delicious peach cobbler, cheesecake, and brownie sundaes.

Ziggy's Caribbean Cuisine

Jamaican natives Rasheid Powell and Jermone Webber, both graduates of Minot State University, started Ziggy’s Caribbean Cuisine out of a food truck in the middle of one of North Dakota’s famously difficult winters. Despite the cold, the business built a devoted fanbase and had to upgrade to its current brick & mortar location at 201 University Avenue. The eatery has become a local favorite with Jamaican-inspired dishes like jerk chicken, rasta pasta, and the oxtail entrée. Ziggy’s also serves freshly blended juices, tasty side dishes, and delectable desserts. Get your taste of Caribbean culture at Ziggy’s.

Minot locals have described The Original as “the best place in town for live music.” The venue has a capacity of 375 and books artists from every major genre of music including rock, country, hip-hop, and electronic music. Between the flashing lights, professional audio team, and classic dive bar vibes, The Original fosters one of Minot’s most energetic atmospheres. North Hill Bowl is your destination for good times and great bowling. With 40 lanes, cosmic lights, and a laid-back vibe, this is the perfect place to enjoy anything from competitive leagues to last-minute hangouts with friends. Back at the Lucky Strike Lounge, bowlers can scarf down a slice of pizza, play a game of pool, or grab a drink during happy hour. The Landing Casino Bar & Grill, located just across the street from the Minot International Airport, is one of the city’s favorite bars, a down-home dive complete with glowing neon signs, national sports games across the tv’s, and of course, a well-stocked bar with friendly bartenders and staff. The Landing also features a professional-grade pool table and an elevated stage that’s perfect for national live acts that are rolling through Minot. The Oak Park Theater is a charming movie theater sitting on the northern edge of Oak Park. For many, walking into the old theater will induce waves of nostalgia— the carpets are reminiscent of the 90’s, the concession stand is lined with boxes of classic candy, and the prices are very reasonable. The theater screens all the most current blockbuster hits along with curated series that focus on a certain genre of film (at the time of this writing, Oak Park Theater featured “monster” films from the early part of the 20th century). Grab your popcorn, favorite boxed candy, and catch a flick at Oak Park Theater.

Patrons describe the Ranger Lounge as a “down-to-earth” dive with “good people, friendly service, and great drinks.” This is another one of those classic dives with brews on tap, pool tables, and an electronic jukebox where you can be DJ for the entire bar. This local hangout has also become a hub for community in Minot— the Ranger Lounge calendar is dotted with gatherings and events in support of the community. Located south of Scandinavian Heritage Park, the Ranger Lounge is just a short drive from The Wyatt at Northern Lights.
